The Flood Competence Center is a german non-profit association (“HochwasserKompetenzCentrum e.V.; Abbreviation: “HKC”) with the purpose of providing advice and training in all matters of flood- and stormwater risk management as well as the promotion of science, research and education.
Through our vast network with more than 130 members both in Germany and abroad our focus is to translate the inter-disciplinary flood risk management knowledge into practical working solutions for all stakeholders.
The HKC has the largest network in Germany on the subject of flood- and stormwater that consists of universities, institutions, municipalities, planning- and equipment manufacturing companies including citizen initiatives.
In addition to bringing different stakeholders together and the implementation of tools for flood risk management, the HKC is also dedicated to the preparation, development and implementation of projects and research studies.

Developed by the HKC the most important tool to support our mission is the Floodlabel, which has been widely used and approved by certified expert members of the largest German water association.
